anybody refurbed an alternator or got a drawing pls?

what do you do?

in neutral at idle of 1000 these dash board lights come on;-
orange rear light warning,
red cat light warning,
red battery light warning (new battery - charging ok)
and there is a slight wine coming from the engine

when i put the revs on the lights go off and the wine goes

alternator shows big change in voltage when i just put the side lights on!

cheers
john

For the hassle I would just pay to have it refurbished.

Refurbished ones come in at around £120.

I tried to rebuild my alternator and like Sirius said it really isn't worth the hassle.

Can't imagine that changing the belt is necessary if the current one is in good condition? The connection blocks can be difficult to get off the spades that attach them to the alternator.
