Tried searching but couldn't find any reference to this.

Is it possible to remove the intake manifold without dropping the engine on an ST205? I need to drill/tap some nozzles into it for my LPG conversion. Had a quick look, and it looks really tight back there and a nightmare for access.

On the MR2 with the same engine I know it's possible to access the manifold stays/other gubbins from underneath the car (as illustrated in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks2K2JtJYPk) but having had a brief look at the Celica I can't see any access from underneath whatsoever. Looks like the steering rack/subframe in the way.

Anyone done it?

I have not done it personally, apparently it is possible but its a total pig of a job.

Probably easier to drop the engine and do your LPG along with other maintenance whilst you are at it.

It is possible. If you have a friendly gibbon you can get in behind the distributer or up through drivers wheel arch.
If all else fails undo the 2 engine mounts underneath (front to back of car) so the engine can rock forwards and allow access.

If you have other reasons to remove engine then it may be easier to do the lot at once.
