Just noticed that the front right Toyo T1R 235/40 ZR18 95Y on my JDM ST205 has been fatally wounded by a pothole :( The sidewall is bulging which means that the belting has broken and its unsafe. The annoying thing is that Toyo don't make T1R's in that size any more......grrr  . The only one they do in that size is the T1S which has a completely different tread pattern. The T1R's on the car still have a lot of tread life left in them so I don't really want to replace them. I guess I might be able to sell them on fleabay? I should be able to use this as an excuse to get the kerb scrape damage fixed up on the wheels. In the meantime it looks like I will be driving around on my Yokohama A048 road legal track tyres. The downside is they are pretty noisy and a bit skittish in the wet but at least they should get me through the MOT.

That is such a pain. I imagine you'd be able to get some cash back for at least two of them - buy 2 get 1 free?

Maybe just swap the front axle rather than all four
At least then you would have a spare should one rear encounter a similar fate

Interesting! Good find Nige :D I'll give them a call in the morning to see if they have any stock. The Toyo web site doesn't list them so I guess its possible some outlets still have old stock on the shelf.

Is the other tyre (or all 3 others) still in like new condition then? If not, you can get 2/4 new other tyres? I went from T1R to Advan AD08R and won't go back.

I did look at the Yokohama option as I have been impressed by their Advan Neova LTS's on the Elise. Good combo of road tyre and track tyre. The list price for 235/40 R18 91Y is quite high but hunting around on the interweb it looks like their are places which are selling at less than £100 per tyre :) Will investigate further on the return from Le Mans.
