also, will a 225/50/16 fit a standard rim? (these are easier to get hold of) |

I have run 225/50/16's on my car (standard wheels) for many years. They perform fine. |

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I am looking at getting some new rubber for my tri-spoke OEM Toyota wheels, currently they are wearing 215/50 R16. however I cannot find any exact matches. What would be a good replacement for the tyres I have now? been on camskill and all my local tyre places can't supply an exact match. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks |

AFAIK the only 'decent' tyre in the original 215/50/16 size are Khumo KH31's, like Camskill have here: http://www.camskill.co.uk/m62b824s572p1 ... se%3A_73dB A quick google seems to show them available a bit cheaper. Slightly lower speed rating but unless you're planning on doing some top speed runs that's not a factor. Lots more choice in 225's as mentioned in this thread, and your speedo will be about bob on given that they usually under-read by a few mph. Cheers, Jon |

Just to add that I was mistaken on the speed rating, W is above Z (OE rating) @ 168mph! |

Thanks Jon, you're right they do pop up cheaper else where, have Khumos on the rear currently, may just get 225s as all I need are some cheapo ditch-finders at the moment. |

Speaking of tyres that guarantee an off road experience has any one heard of these http://www.camskill.co.uk/m62b3552s302p ... tAoduSYADQ UNIGLORY! sounds bizarre, but the price is pretty good, I imagine they'd be a reasonable temporary set, can't justify spending full whack on tyres for wheels I may get rid of in a few months time. |

If you want as bit more predictability go 205. If you're only changing 2 you need to keep size the same. I believe you can get goodrich g-grip in 50 profile. Im running these on my clio and they are superb and not much more than a budget. Don't go for out and out ditchfinders, no matter how good you are you'll regret it. My current celica now has a dented wing from a deer. I saw it at least 100 yards away and started braking from 60, by the time i reached it i was down to about 30 and it bolted sideways straight into the side. |
