Hi everyone! i have a 96 ST205 (jap import) going great then a slight vibration started, we thought it was a slightly buckled rim but i just got new rims and tyres balanced and fitted (not aligned yet though) and the vibration still remains?
Mechanic checked over the joints and other areas but no obvious problems found, new discs on front some months ago so nothing there. he said perhaps the driveshaft but just guessing as no evidence to suggest anything untoward there.
Problem is to take out the driveshaft and get it balanced might not eliminate the problem either so just wondering if anyone knows or had a similar problem?
also the vib i would say is intermittent and it might be my imagination but i reckon its worse in the morning and almost goes away completely after a bit of driving.
However it is getting more and more noticeable so i need to do something but i just wish i knew what!
thanks for your time

The driveshafts don't need balancing. The propshafts are balanced but I've never heard of one which has required re-balancing. I'd look for the simple thinks first. If you've just had the wheels balanced then it's possible you've lost a wheel weight. I usually put some silver self adhesive tape over the weights to ensure they don't fly off. This is routine practice in the race/rally world.

If you haven't lost a wheel weight then the only other possibility I can think of is that there's wear in one or more of the suspension joints which could then allow harmonic movement under certain conditions which feels like a vibration. Do you know if any of the front Superstrut components have been replaced e.g. Figure 8's, or if it's still running on the original 1996 components?
