Since getting the car running again after its major clutch surgery, I've had a couple of runs in it and it's running very lumpy and cutting out at idle. . There's a fair bit of smoke from the exhaust, and I also noted that the rad fans are running from the moment the ignition is turned on.. Probably in unrelated. The car sat for nearly a year.
Checked for codes and nothing untoward, and filled up with some fuel to make sure the fuel gauge wasn't misleading,as is sometimes the case.
So I'm thinking maybe a clogged injector, with sitting for so long? Any other ideas?

thin boost pipe going to the boost sensor.. check that as that throws all kinds of wobblies.

Could be onto something there... I noticed the ebc was reading some odd figures for boost level. Meant to mention that too. Would that affect idle though? Anyone have a good pic of vac lines layout so i can check easily?

Problem solved! Had a poke about the vac lines, and the hose from the throttle body to a sensor mounted on the firewall above the brake master cylinder was not attached. Runs like a dream again. Thanks niblwttr... don't know if this is the hose you had in mind but you got me thinking along the right lines, so cheers!
