not saying people do, an i know lou brooks wouldnt, as i talk with him quite often, but any one making any thing would say theirs is better than another lol

Yeah you have a valid point there. Either way I hope that diff disassembly montage helped for general research purposes?
The process of replacing the diff seals doesn't look so daunting, I wonder if photographing it and marking it all up first before removing each part might make the job easier?
I guess I will see if I can get my hands on the red sealant first up.

Red sealant that needs to be re-applied after dismantling the diff. It seals the 2 parts of the diff casing together. I think it is called FIPG -form in place gasket.

Not 100% sure that the stuff in the link is the right one, but fairly sure. Will ask in the local dealership when I order my bolts or I will have a chat with the guys at SCW and see if it sounds right.

surly any instant gasket type stuff will do the same job, i mean if i have each manafacturs specific instance gasket in a tube just incase i need i wouldnt get a car in my workshop lol

I don't know what Toyota put in their sealants but the feedback would indicate that it does an extremely effective job and often better than what you can buy in your local auto accessory shop. A bit like using Toyota ForLife Coolant in the intercooler and engine radiator :)
