Car has been sat to week or so, took it to work this morning and it was a mission. Car buckarooring, stalling at junctions. AFR < 10.0. Cant put any power down and can't get above 40mph.
By the time I got to the end of the spur road it cleared up 90%.
I know its damp/wet on the ignition components but which component is most likely to be? Will WD40 clear it and what bit should I concentrate on.

The problem I have is every time I pop the bonnet to have a looks for sparks it RAINS!

I have a feeling its the leads running along the rocker cover (even though they are insulated..)

If we get a dry hour or two this weekend I'd pop the dizzy cap and check the condition of the rotor arm and the contacts in the cap. If it clears like you say then I guess it could be the moisture clearing from the leads etc. Might be a sign that you need a new set of leads/caps as they don't last forever.

Do you have undertrays (especially left hand one). If not, don't drive in the wet.

Check the dizzy cap has the 2 90 degree rubber elbows on the vents at the bottom. Without these it sucks in water easily.

cheers,

I just sprayed a load of WD40 in the end and it seems to have cleared.
