I am still sorting this out.
Interestingly enough the part number on the sensor is 89465-20370 which makes me wonder if this is the right sensor for my car.

Here is the sensor.
You can see the dent where it got slammed in under the hood once.

After much searching I ended up going with Bosch part # 15728. Planar 4-wire zorconia sensor.

I put in the new oxygen sensor. The car is much quieter now, and it is also more drivable. Before I had to stay in lower gears to accelerate. I have not been able to compare fuel economy yet. I hope this does the trick.

I do still have a little back firing front the front of the car, but not as much and not as loud.

The car does not feel faster though. I was assuming the over fueling was reducing power. I think the louder exhaust gave a psychological effect of making me think the car was faster cause it seemed so aggressive.

So I put in new plugs when I first finished the swap. I have put ~500 miles on them with this ultra rich fueling and improper running conditions. Could this ruin my spark plugs as well?

I am going to replace my ignition wiring, since my spark is a little weak. Luckily there is a place in the states that sells rev3 plug wires.

It's possible. I take it the running still isn't quite right then

It runs well, but something is not 100%. I know i need new plug wires, which I have on the way. But I started thinking if I need to get the plugs sorted again, since this issue could affect them. I want to wrap stuff up so I don't have to take off the intercooler for a while.

I got it down to 5 minutes to remove it, but I still don't enjoy it.

Amen to that!

For the cost of it it's worth changing the plugs and leads for sure.

People have been telling me to go copper, but I don't want to change the plugs everytime I change the oil. What have the UK 205s been happy with? I was running Denso iridium before.

Copper plugs for me in a 205.

NGK BKR7E - 1 grade colder than stock and cheap :)

Plugs last a fair while, you will probably get 20k miles from a set. I'd recommend chaning them every year ish...

Hmm,

Open the floodgates for that one. Ask 3 people and you'll get 30 ansers depending on preference lol

I believe Kris has switched to copper with no issues. I don't know what the service interval is but I'd expect 20k miles or so
I've run platinum and irridium, heat range 6 and 7. Never had any issues with any combinations
I'd stick to platinum myself. A few people do seem to have issues with irridium and they are renown for being fussy and fouling quite easily

I have used copper, platinum & iridium std & one grade cooler - no issues with any.

I will probably go back to copper plugs but change them each 4-5K miles every other oil change with an inspection every oil change.

May seem excessive to some but the car will get some abuse.

I have used copper in mine and also platinum, tha platinum ones are in at the moment have had no issues with them and they have lasted a fair amount of mileage.

and here's me thinking you'd be recommending unobtainium plugs

Seriously, I don't think I've ever changed plugs on either of my Fours. The standard platinum Denso's (?) seem to last forever. Makes a change from years ago when I had to change the plugs on my motorbike every six months to a year.
