Old bearing is an nsk 6204du2 but not getting a match, is there a modern nsk equivalent? I can't make head nor tail of the nsk catalogue.

Pretty sure the 6204 is the bit that matters. The letters refer to options on seals etc.

Thanks, looks like you're right 6204RS = 6204DU2 = 6204DDU, at least to the end user. Cheers.

Maybe not actually, looks like the du type is required - deep groove or something. Might be to do with how the washer sits on the face of the bearing? If I get to a dealer I'll ask.

Pretty sure i remember the 2rs saying it was deep groove. I think this refers to the groove the balls run in, deep pressumably allows more side load which we don't have anyway.

Either way, i replaced one of mine with a 2re ages ago and it's been fine.

From the horses mouth (useful KB thing?):

"DU2 or DDU is the same thing, which is NSK's way of indicating 2 Rubber Seals ie. 2RS

For example NTN use the reference LLU, again 2RS and there are others, but there is nothing different to your DU2 to a 2RS

The boxes of our NSK bearings have the DDU marking after the bearing size, we just advertise them as 2RS as this is the most commonly searched reference for a rubber sealed bearing."

So you were right ;)

Cheers,
Jon
