It's inevitable to have issues on a rebuild of this scale. It's a testament to the attention to detail that there seems to be so few. :)

swapped the wheels front to back on the drivers side having not been able to find any obvious reason for the rotational feel
It has improved things but still can feel something through the brake pedal when lightly applied

A tailgate strut failed today nearly decapitating me, luckily I had a spare for the right side

The exhaust is drumming on the chassis so a bit of work is required there, so thats tomorrows job along with the duff speedo

Sorted the vibrating exhaust however the speedo fault is still present
I swapped the clocks over for another set I had (with lurid plasma dial kit) and the speedo doesnt work on that set also
So along with a 42 - SPD No "SPD" signal over 8 seconds driving and no response from the speedo, where would you advise having a look?
cheers

Morning Dave, it's not something silly like the speedo sender not fully connected on the gearbox ? As for the vibration, could be a slight warp on the discs.Glad to see another classic saved and I take my hat off to you for the level of restoration shown.

Hi Martyn
I think I found the sensor last night in the gloom, its approx under the catch can on top of the gear box, a 3 wire sensor.
I unplugged and re plugged it in but to no effect.
Ill have a look from underneath when I have the car in the garage next.

You might be right about the warped disc, Ill see if I can track a set of front discs down and give them a go. The set on the car are some fancy grooved type.

all the faults were sorted out, the speedo issue turned out to be a combination of wrong instruments for the year plus a dodgy speed converter
once the faults were sorted l drove it for a while but was spending a lot of time on the red narrow body 185 which l have done all the work on myself with the exception of the fault finding and brake and fuel lines that Martin sorted.
this one was welded by Martin, prepped by me and painted by another
the red one was welded by me, prepped by me and painted by me so I am a bit more connected to the red one
subsequently I decided to sell the wrc, got a fair price for it and bought a 911 lol
