Ready for base coat now :D I guess you've prepped the wrap-around lip underneath where it's prone to start bubbling?

I don't think I've ever seen an ST205 stripped back to bright metal like that. Looks cool. Polish, then spray with clear lacquer and you're done!

Nice looking job dave, looking forward to seeing it complete.....Delorean style would be cool, bare metal. I can even suggest a good lacquered to use :) after several attempts at spraying various bits n bobs it's amazing how different quality paints can be and how well they take.

I would be tempted to have a go at spraying it yourself Dave, the cost of spraying it you could buy everything you need, some good paint and put in a lot more effort than any sprayer would.

Sadly there are dints / dents requiring filler so not an option :P

I was starting to think that way Nial but the restoration course at my Leeds city college doesnt run on a night school basis any more so the "training" I was after isnt available

I just watched some you tube videos and practiced, actual spraying dosent seem so hard, it's all in the prep, which you have done most of already. Also you could use 2 pack paint at home which the commercial sprayers can't use anymore.

Do be very careful to use the correct PPE. A GT-Four owner a few of us know used this paint without the correct PPE and got very very sick. The paint is highly toxic.

Yea.....I had a close call with the stuff too, although I did manage to find a reasonable 2pack respirator which worked well......and always keep the garage well ventilated.

I think the hardest aspect for me to deal with would be crating a clean environment to paint in.
Having given everything rusty a going over with the grinder and wire brush attachments and sanding back 10 layers of paint there is 3mm of rusty / paint dust over everything from ceiling to floor, even walking around or moving something creates clouds lol
