Very shiny. The orange glow makes it look like you are prepping the car by candlelight Dave

The lighting is poor on that side of the garage Don, interesting that you noticed as its made working on that side a bit of a pain.
I have an inspection lamp but I always seemed to be in the way of it and casting a shadow lol

The door on the passenger side was a replacement and had been black originally, the black paint was much harder to remove than the white even where the white was original paint

A few years ago I had to get a new drivers door fitted to my UK ST205 when the 'repair' carried out by the previous owner turned out to be a poor re-skinning job. The new door was supplied to the bodyshop in a black semi-matt primer. Some of my eagle eyed GT-Four friends did remark once the job was finished that the shut line gaps around the door were quite large and door itself seemed to be slightly smaller than the original. I recall some people speculating at the time that the doors might be slightly different sizes between the different models of Gen 6. I think that is extremely unlikely. Morel likely its either manufacturing tolerances OR it was a pattern part. I'd like to think the bodyshop ordered it through the main Toyota dealers who were located just over the road. These days I'd source the part myself and supply to the coachworks so I know it's not a pattern part.

Seems to be a popular choice.

The state of the front bumper, the paint flakes off but is multi layered and a royal pain in the butt to shift. Waiting on a detail sander to arrive

Sanding that bumper must take an age. Just as well you're not costing your labour otherwise it would probably be cheaper to buy a new bumper!

Interested to know what detail sander you're planning to use?

Hi Don
Certainly buying a bumper in its original paint would be the sensible step but it keeps me busy and is weirdly enjoyable turning something rubbish into something useable
The detail sander I am getting is this one

It seems to have decent reviews and is a bit cheaper via ebay compared to amazon

You might want to consider one of these Dave! I have found it very useful and suitable for sanding the nose cone etc, a touch on the heavy side, but it sands very well.

I found the detail sander not much better than doing the awkward bits by hand.

Looking good Dave :) In good hands with Martin. What's his scope, paint, mechanicals or both?
