I seem to have mislaid my old compression tester - I take a Draper one like this

The only symptoms I get now is a fair amount of grey smoke when coming down to idle when the engine is hot, ie. clutching in when coming to a stop. No smoke on startup, on boost, out the dipstick etc.
I do have a 3" DP & exhaust straight through so I wondered if the lack of backpressure is causing the S148 to lose a little past the oil seal? Or am I living in vain hope that it's not ringlands
