I'm currently stockpiling parts to give the GT4 a good refresh 8)

Received an OEM-spec Exedy clutch (TYK 2124) in the post today, and noticed it came with an NSK release bearing.

NSK are a reputable brand, however do people recommend only using the OEM one? I don't want to have to get the job done twice, but if the OEM one is just an NSK in a Toyota box i'll keep this one.

IMHO it will be fine, nsk are very good. I honestly don't know if the standard bearing is nsk but I do know nsk are used elsewhere on the car from the factory.

At the end of the day its only a small job to whip the box back off if it fails! Ha.

I'd say it's not so much the bearing, but the rest of the assembly of the release bearing. I've had a non Toyota bearing fail. After 40k miles. Pain to remove and fit a genuine one. For the price of the Toyota one ( about 20 ukp) get and fit that instead.

As above I agree with darryl I highly recommend toyota release bearings due to failures of others

I picked a genuine bearing up - If anyone's interested it's stamped NSK60TKB3502. Weights 294g vs the Exedy NSK BRG906 one at 215g so is more substantial, & less plastic used.
