what the best way to remove a side skirt?
have a slight crack in mine, but a A1 replacement
its probably going to be on the ground. i have access to a four post ramp
but haveing looked at it, you cant actually get good access due to the ramp being in the way
which makes me think it maybe just be easeyer to jack the car up on axel stands
also notice the skirt seems to be bolted in place, 5 bolt across the skirt comeing down with nuts/washer holding in place
i thought there would be some kind of plastic attatchment
basically take off, have a look/clean up of the sill, address any issues
not expecting any as looking at the sill on the ramp all looks good
stick new skirt (tiger seal/silicone?) and rebolt on
so any advise or pointers?

I have just taken a pair off, a 10mm nut at each end under the car, push on clips along the sides and locking plastic clips underneithe (the sort where you have to pull the middle out to remove them) at least that was what's on the gen6.

Oh and I think a nut at each end in the wheel arch IIRC

how was it done, on the floor on raised?
also when re fixing, did you use an adhesive? most seem to go for the tiger seal
due to its bonding strenght
it seems quite a straight forward job, so dont really want to use a bodyshop

It's really straight forward - you can do it on the floor. I put mine back using the original fixings. Don't really like the idea of adhesive.

You'd be surprised how much dirt accumulates on the inside of the skirt, I probably took about 2kg out of each of mine the first time they were removed - not a bad weight saving and worth doing every once in a while, would be difficult if they were stuck on. :)

totally agree that this should be done, as you mention lots of mud and dirt get stuck to the sills
and thats when bad corrosion sets in (where it cant be seen)!
reminds me of the old Rs turbos with the kit and arch covers
car can look great but undeneath the trim, just rust holding it together, seen a few Rs turbos that have died because of it
and with regards to the adhesive, ive quite slim euro skirts, which unlike the oe skirts
have less mounding points as they dont actually cover the sills, thats why i know the sills are A1
because they can bee see, so no build up of any debriss at all
thats why i mention the adhesive, as its only about a inch of the skirts that actually contacts the car

I did it on the ground, easy. Didn't replace the skirts but I don't see a need for adhesive, just use the correct clips.
