Hi, I managed to strip the thread of the banana arm bolt (the crush tube end) DON'T ASK!
I re-threaded the hole to the next size up but the new bolt doesn't seem to grip that well.... Its tight but it does feel a little threaded. Rather than risk it, I would like to sort this out.
Can one gain access from in the cabin to the threaded part (drivers side is the one that is knackered) If so, I would like to weld a nut in place of the broken thread. Does this sound feasible? I have a feeling is near the clutch/brake pedal....?
Cheers Rob

It's a captive nut, you could somehow remove the captive nut and re-weld in a nut the correct size? There are small access panels hidden away under the sound deadening material. I had to do this when one of the captive nuts broke free.
Just checked to jog my memory, there's no access panel, what we had to do was push a screw driver into the hole where the bolt goes, give it a whack, where it dented the floor of the car I had to cut my own access panel, started off small until it was big enough for me to do what I needed. It may seem a bit drastic but was the only thing I could think of.
Maybe welding the nut up and cutting new threads the correct size?

Does anyone happen to have a picture of the OEM banana arm bolt? When I had mine swapped over the garage said both of mine were non-standard, but they looked OEM'ish to me and I can find no evidence that the shell has been cut open & new captive bolts added.
