Good afternoon chaps,

I have been looking at options for my project Celica as it needs a new windscreen. Now I don't know what cars you drive day to day, but one of the best things both my wife and I have is a heated windscreen. Instant de-mist, no scraping ice, and for track cars where water sealing is not great or you have disposed of the heater for weight, no more fogging up in the rain!

I have had a quote from Ricky Evans Motorsport in Tamworth of £225+p&p but there is a minimum order of 3, any more and the cost would drop further.

Would anyone be interested in a group buy?

I will post this on both the GT4DC and GT4oc.

Kind regards,

J

p.s. Moderators, not too sure what forum to put this in, please more if you think appropriate :)

Which models of GT4? Not sure if the windscreens are different or not.

They only show the ST185 http://www.heatedwindscreen.com/acatalo ... ml#SID=460

They have offered to make up the ST205 type, but the minimum batch order is three, so I need to gather together a few chaps :)

They will do a group buy discount if we get a few of us too :)

Sounds really good but...

Just to be clear, what are they made of?
How much would it cost to fit including the electrics and wiring etc?
What would be the cost of a replacement, if available when one got damaged ?
Would you be able to get a replacement?

As I said, sounds good but would like to rule out any future issues.

Cheers

Hi Chaps,

The screens are laminated E marked screens, these are the screens that many WRC and motorsport teams use, so they are good quality.

Wiring wise, they do have a high draw, but then again you only need them running for a short time. The stock alternator is easily capable of running it, even my little 70amp denso alternator will be fine.

Wiring info is available here -

http://www.heatedwindscreen.com/acatalo ... tails.html

Also just got an email on price breaks, we are already in the second price break as there are 5 with two possibles :)

Base your price breaks on the following

3-4 = £225 + VAT each
5-9 = £210 + VAT
10-14 = £190/195 + VAT
15 upwards = £180 + VAT

Cheers,

J

Although I don't have any personal experience of using them I believe that the fitting of aftermarket heated windscreens is quite a common motorsport mod. We did originally consider commissioning an ST205 heated windscreen when building my track car but at the time I had bigger fish to fry. I have a blower fan fitted to my track car to help keep the screen clear but if it's very wet and/or humid this won't be enough so the heated screen would really help. With a six point harness fitted I can't exactly lean forward with a J cloth to clear the view!

Hi chaps,

Looks like we have the five we need interested, I will speak to the company on Monday and work out the best course of action. I guess we can either call up and pay over the phone, or I will take payment somehow and then do a bulk order? Paying direct would be best. Maybe I can get a discount code we can give at the time of order?

Kind regards,

J

Using my car all year round I'd definitely be up for one of these. Have you seen one in the flesh? Are the heating elements size & clarity of the glass similar to OEM standards?
Reading the website it sounds like installation is a bit more involved over a standard windscreen install, involving extra sealants etc, which is a bit concerning for long term reliability

Worth a post on the Celica club for a much bigger audience. I presume they will fit any gen 6.

+1 (I'm in the same boat)
So I'd be interested in one for a 185 - or am I too late :?:
