Glad it's coming together Dave. Is the lambda sensor a single wire affair ?

I might mine coming off and a wideband one going in place. I'll see how much the service and MOT come in at

Martin and Otis finished the work on the car last week and Martin told me it was ready to be picked up having been test driven / checked out etc...
So MOTed, taxed and insured with new fuel and brake lines, fuel tank, fuekl pump, filter, abs fault sorted, knackered ecu swapped out, engine temp sensor sorted and a variety of other MOT related jobs and niggles sorted I got the train over to a cold wet Blackburn and was picked up from the station by Martin in the old 185
Martin drove back to the workshop and I could tell straight away it was nicely sorted :D happy days
A chat to Otis and a brew later I set off back to Leeds, its only 60 miles but far enough to tell if the car was in good order.
I had forgotten what I nice drive a 185 is
Martin also fettled a 205 back box to mate up with a 185 middle section and think it looks great.
Car on the drive once back in sunny Leeds

Glad you got it sorted Dave. Did the subframe have to come out to replace the tank ? I ask as my fuel lines are corroded. It was only an advisory but I am not taking chances of dumping fuel before getting out of hull.

If so I'll ask the garage to replace most of the bushings when the frame is down. Hope to see it again soon

Hi Martyn
I would say so, certainly made life a lot easier with the tank and subframe off and the prop shaft out of the way

The paint work is typically milky and proved impossible to bring back to life with compound and t cut so it had to be gone over with 2000 grit wet and dry
Took some doing but its ready for polishing

Having had to revert to the drastic measure of 2000 grit wet and dry to take off the bleached paint work I then used a 3 inch DA air sander with a medium pad and Faracla G3 paste followed by T cut followed by Autoglym super resin on a soft pad to bring the paint back to a polished finish
Its still a bit flat and would benefit from being gone over again with the G3 and polish but its much better than the milky pink finish of before.

It took a total of 15 hours but it was worth it just for the drive into work this morning in a shiny car

Having used it for the last month as the daily drive and a couple of longer runs to Darlington and Manchester this week was the real test as we have been working in Kings Hill Kent this week.
230 mile each way without any problems, happy days

Hiya Martyn

The subframe was removed for ease of fabricating the new fuel and brake lines as they have now been removed and new ones completely made up from scratch so makes things a lot easier with subframe out the way ;-)

So, the 185 has covered 4000 kms in around 10 weeks and performed great.
However............ as pleased as I am that it is running great there is work to be done and putting that sort of miles on the car isnt a long term tactic
There is a rotational "feeling" and noise from the off side front, possibly wheel bearing as Martin mentioned when I picked it up from him or sticking caliper / warped disc as its more noticeable under braking
Also the front and rear subframes need to come off and go for blasting, painting and rebushing along with all the suspension and the underside needs stripping and re undersealing etc.......... so its come off the road

As the 205 is yet to go for painting, its booked in for the 25th, I needed a car!!
I should have kept the V70 or the PUG 206 lol

However every cloud etc..............
I needed something to cover the miles, comfort, quickish, quality built, not prone to significant depreciation, some thing that I like to look at...................

Here you go

The car has full history and has most recently been looked after by Revolution Porsche in Brighouse so I am hopeful its a good one.

A picture from when I got it home

and from the ad that got my attention

I'd be interested in how you get on with this, I nearly bought one instead of my m3 but did enjoy the test drive (even though I found the steering wheel in a funny angle).

Looks a nice example ;-)
