I have swapped the dial faces over which involved prying the needles off and putting back on
I dont know / cant recall if the speedo worked previously as its been out of the car 2 years and I have never driven it, having bought it as a project
The rear light warning light is on as well although all rear lights are working, I think I put a bulb in the clocks for illuminating this fault suggesting the at it might be a long standing problem. Would a for light being wired to the offside reversing light bring on this fault light and a previous owner has pulled the bulb out so as to not have the light on?

the main thing is the speedo, where the first place to start?

cheers

See if the ecu shows a speed sensor fault code after you've driven it. Idiot it would indicate a problem within the clocks or a converter in the clocks only.

Cheers Chris
Daft Q No 1 - does the speedo need to be working for MOT?

It certainly didn't a few years ago, but that may have changed. Saying that, they don't normally drive it outside the building to be able to check - except our GT4's to do a tapely brake test because of the 4wd.

Ill speak to / take it to Martin when Im ready to MOT, its the safest bet. I should have let him MOT it before it came back for re-assembly lol

I have another set of clocks so I could swap them and see if they work, the dials and needles have been messed around with but it would prove whether the fault is with the clocks or not if the speedo works at all on the spare set.
I removed a convertor from one of the sets but cant remember which set and what I did with it - senility!
