I just normally clean it in raw petrol with a toothbush. I've read about a special 'Blitz' foam cleaner but can't find a seller for same. Is there another way to clean it, or if I continue with the 'petrol', should I give it a light coating of WD40 after?

All I can find is the 'pipercross' cleaning kit for a panel type filter (a la K&N), not a stainless steel mesh?

With a stainless mesh, I don't see how you can get better than solvent, e.g. petrol.

Pipercross is foam, and K&N and Apexi are oiled typed filters. These all need special chemicals and processes - including re-oiling for the latter 2.
