Cast requires special prep and treatment and different rods/wire to normal steel...

I STILL have a spare 165 dipstick in the garage! Yours for 1 pint of beer!

Not going to Bolney this year, don't fancy scraping my car up a muddy embankment...

The postman can help? Unless someone is near me and going to Bolney?

Andy - PM me your address and I'll send the dipstick tube.

As I said above, I'm only after a beer ;)

well, its been a long hard slog but ive cracked it :)

finally managed to remove the sheared off portion by knocking it into the sump, then drained the oil (carrying the tube with it). had to remove the sump, which in turn involved removing both crossmembers (had to be done anyway to fill the rear engine mount with polyurethane).

i would have taken pictures of the sump and crank etc but i had to get the sump off and back on again as quick as possible due to it being like a dust bowl outside my house :(

first time ive been the exposed bottom end of a 165, looks very clean and hardy :)

the replacement tube should arrive tomorrow, so by weds night ill have the car back in one piece and out terrorising :)

Andy, I wouldn't have thought that it would be too difficult to fabricate your own dipstick tube or mod one off another vehicle to fit?

Now we know how it is removed . . . it's too late as we have just sold Pennys heart and soul.

However, it might be woth talking to DT4/Stu as they may have a spare block in a few weeks . . .

Failing that how about Celica breakers?

They can't charge too much for a dipstick surely???

loosey, its the tube itself

my first ports of call were TCB, then fensport, then CTP...either none in stock, or unavailable to buy new

just so happens brett has an entire 165 for spares down at the farm and ive been offered the tube if i can remove it :)

Andy, removing that tube is going to require some heat and some freezing spray imho :(
