Hi All,

It was almost 11 years ago that the GT4DC ceased charging for access to our forum, and for the last few years I have been personally funding the webhosting for the Club. In the past this wasn’t a problem for me and I was happy to pay to keep the community and the knowledge resource going.

Like many of us the last year has given me cause to re-evaluate things from lots of angles including financial and basically, I can no longer continue to fund the site on my own.

The site costs £30 including VAT per month to run, what I am asking is for anyone who is interested in keeping the site going as a technical resource to consider donating just a couple of pounds here and there to help alleviate the cost. I would be most grateful to anyone that can assist.

I have setup a PayPal account, donations@gt4dc.co.uk to use for anyone who is able to make a donation.

All the best,

Mike

Many thanks Mike.
Just to add that the other staff members are still around! As treasurer I feel I should provide a small update.

The club has had the same £135 in the club bank account since 2014 without any transactions. Due to lack of use the bank account for the GT4DC has been closed and the funds have been used toward the hosting costs (kindly provided by Mike for a number of years). As such we no longer have "club money".

Mike I have made a £100 personal donation toward site hosting costs.

Granted, I don't visit many forums much these days (other than Retro Rides as that is still going strong), but that's only because people have gravitated to FB for their car group discussions.
However, I've literally just come back here to look for ECU issue information and even though forums are "old tech" I found what I wanted within seconds!

Payday tomorrow - I'll chuck a couple $ your way :D

We had a discussion about this at the last Rallyday and I remember saying that it's not fair for it to fall on just one person.and I was happy to contribute.

I don't do paypal, is it possible to PM some bank details so I can do a bacs ?

How about a signing up fee as I believe used to be the case. I for one would be happy to pay an annual fee to keep the site going.

Just spotted this. I've I've bunged a few quid in.
Keep it alive and I'd do it annually, in case I get a 4 again and thanks for the help in the past.
Edited to say...gt4oc has 16k locked away. Someone MUST know someone from there???
Amalgamate???

Did anyone read the above post?

I am trying to contact GT4OC committee members but am having no success. I have a dozen or more members supporting my attempts.
Can anyone here help. It could be a sensible solution......or is there still a substantial dislike of a reconciliation?

Hi Jeff,

Thank you very much for your kind donation, it really is appreciated. :)

I'm afraid I don't know anyone on GT4OC committee. I think things have moved on with Facebook groups being the main discussion places now. In terms of a reconciliation I don't know what that would look like or what everyone would get out of it....

:)
Thanks for the thanks.
I believe that the love for the car still exists throughout the country and that the funds possessed by the OC should be used for the benefit of all GT4'ers whatever their creed.
The OC has collapsed in a pile of confusion and miss management. No one at all is capable of accessing the £16K they have in the bank. An unacceptable situation which I alone, as a basic member, am trying to rectify!
I saw a 185 yesterday, belonging to Chris, Cee's husband, creators of the EC, and stopped for a craic. Just for the love of the 4.
Your site deserves preservation. I will do what I can to link all three sets of members together.
I do not do social media.
I am a dinosaur in a 1971 13/60cv :)

I heard that Chris Bodhi was one of the last management group, and I think is a decent guy. I agree the funds should go to benefiting the GT4 community, however I'm not sure what form that could take.

As far as merging goes, I'm not sure what benefits that would bring to offset the huge technical task of trying to merge databases to combine all the past posts. This forum is free to join, and members from other clubs are welcome. I don't think any grudges go beyond the very few that were playing power games or feathering their own nests.

I'm with you on that Nibbles. Chris Hibberd (Bodhi on the site) is the only 'management' I have managed to communicate with but he was going through a Covid related nightmare at the time (12 months ago) and I have not re-contacted him since.
Perhaps he is now over that and I will reluctantly try to persuade/ask him to contact the 2 others who jointly hold the 'keys' to the funds. If they are incommunicado, it is a lost cause.
If anyone reads this who has contacts within the OC, please drop me a line.
I need something to keep me active :)
Thanks for reading
Jeff.
