Hi Folks,

Some of the members on here already know and use South Coast Workshop but for those that don't we thought it would be nice to do a bit of an introduction.

Based in Emsworth, Hampshire (Nr Portsmouth) We are a DIY car garage setup as a 'rent-a-ramp' where you can bring your car and carry out whatever work you would like using our warm, dry workshop. We have a fully equipped workshop with 3x 3.5 tonne vehicle lifts/ramps, fully fitted airlines and tools powered by an industrial grade compressor, MIG and TIG welding gear, 20 tonne press, massive range of handtools, a large petrol steam pressure washer and a huge heater for the winter.

We also have tea/coffee facilities, fridge for food/drink and a microwave for food. Less than 1 minutes walk away we have a Tesco Express with free cash machine, chinese takeaway and a fish 'n' chip shop.

We also for the less confident have a mechanic on site who can either assist you with jobs or complete all the work for you.

Essentially it's - Do it yourself, Do it with help or We do it for you.

The business was setup by GT-Four owners, we have a 380hp ST205 road car as well as a track focused ST205 and between us have over 20 years of experience with the GT-Four.

Our prices are very good value with a half days ramp rental starting at £25 when mentioning that you are a GT4DC member.

To give you an idea of what people have used the facilities for so far it's anything from a basic oil change to an engine out, other uses have been for undersealing/rust-proofing we also sometimes have customers use the space for detailing cars as the space is clean and dry. We also have a fair amount of storage space, some customers use this to store the parts they are collecting for future projects/work. We also have access to a paint oven and full sprayshop setup and our mechanic is also an accomplished sprayer.

We would be pleased to answer any questions you might have and hope to see you at our workshop soon. :)

I would just like to add that Barry is also an extremely accomplished engineer and fabricator
- just have a look under the bonnet of his own white ST205
I also believe that he is qualified in coachworks (bodywork, fabrication and spraying) and
also recently passed a specialist course in automotive electrics.
...and to top it all, he's a really nice chap.

I would also like to post up a positive experience, took mine in for spring fitting and what I got in return was lots of advice on various things they spotted whilst working on the car etc - Mike and Barry know their stuff and it was a pleasure spending the morning there chatting cars whilst they worked.

Also a cracking cafe around the corner that does a mean sausage bap.

I also highly recommend South Coast Workshop. Barry and Mike have helped me not only maintain, but restore my ST205. The best part is that I was encouraged to do as much as I could myself. It's and ideal environment to learn and get the satisfaction of working on your own car, even if you have no prior experience with mechanical work. My entire build thread takes place in this fine facility.

Great Facility, great People!
