Formula Ford Festival - Brands Hatch 18 October 2009

Rory Butcher driving an RF92 Van Diemen won the 2009 Formula Ford Kent Festival at Brands Hatch last weekend against a horde of much more modern machinery. He managed to pip Scott Malvern by less than a second at the line. On the penultimate lap Malvern inadvertently hit the back of Butchers car and lifted both back wheels off the ground  Amazingly Butcher managed to keep control of his RF92

Awesome pictures Don.
If only the metal fence hadn't been in the way it woudl have looked like the car was stood on the sides of its wheels.

I always enjoyed watching formula fords at Lydden when I was at uni in that area. Good close racing.

What engines have they standardised on now ? Used be the old 1600 xflow from what I remember.

It was one of these all too rare occasions when I was in the right place at the right time. It all happened so quickly so I was amazed the pics came out as well as they did.
