Hi all,

It's been a while since I was last down at the Dependable's Club for a visit so please forgive me for posting up in events first and not the lounge !

Anyhow, I had a quick chat with Chris earlier and he suggested that I knock up a quick post about the event in Wales that myself and Nell are organising and see if we can't drum up some interest !

So then..... The event is a Saturday/Sunday affair with FREE Camping and a BBQ.

It's a two stage event with either, or both (If you just want to camp and chill out) days being optional.

Saturday - Arrive in Abergavenny, Wales and set-up tent, BBQ is included for evening meal if your staying. Saturday night see's a night navigation course starting and ending at the local village pub (200 yards from camp site). The night nav takes around an hour to complete and you can either plot your own route, or use the pre-plotted route maps that Nell provides !

You'll need to bring a co-driver, or hijack one from the campsite ! A head-lamp/map lamp etc is advised to read the map in the dark !

Sunday - Is the 3 castles event itself - We leave camp around 10-11 and set off, convoy style for a really relaxing drive around 3 castles and many other sights in South Wales..... There are plenty of stops along the way, and it really is a relaxing day spent driving through tree lined single track roads and twisty hills etc....

We have put a cost of £10 per person to include a FREE BBQ, and a beer or glass of wine etc for the missus if your camping for the weekend, else, if you are not, then it's totally free !

I can post pics of previous times we have run this event if you'd like a taster of some of the scenery you can expect to see..

I'd love to see peeps come along in a GT4, but this is a social event as much as anything so if your Four's off the road and you just fancy a chill out weekend then come in whatever car you like !

Were looking at the last weekend in September for the event but the date is not set in stone yet so just let me know what works for you.

Kind Regards,

Me & My Sarah (& Nell) hehehe

As Tim says, past ones have been really enjoyable. The village is like a step back in time to a small, friendly community and a pleasure to spend an evening there.

1. Nibbles (provisional on no date clashes)

Hi Tim, sounds like an interesting weekend you have lined up and would be very tempted to see if I can make it. Keep us posted on dates etc.

Hey Don, thanks for posting up :) - For sure I will keep the thread updated.

It IS AN INTERESTING weekend, it's different than many other events in that we try to make it a family affair - the missus, the kids, even the family dog came to one of them ! AND, it's a busy one, especially if you do the camping option and the night nav.

Nell is a really great tour guide and has loads of info about the places we visit...... For city based people like me, it's truly a breath of fresh air. The slower speed of a convoy type meet means it's safe for those who want to bring their kids along, and also makes for some great cam-corder shots as we twist and turn thru the country lanes. In Contrast, the night nav is a chance for the drivers to have a laugh and Nell to have the last one 'cause honestly, the clues he gives you to solve are real sneaky !

I'll throw some pic's up tomorrow.

Last time Nell left his back door unlocked - his house is on the edge of the village green which is the campsite.

Hi all, and many thanks for posting up :-)

Okis, so one at a time....

"What are the sanitary facilities like?" - Hi Sirius, as Chris said, the camp site quite literally backs onto Nell's back garden and he let us use his down-stairs loo and hand-basin. The pub has toilets that are accessible from outside as well. If the weather turns bad, we are looking into hiring the village hall - next to the pub - as a bolt-hole, and if we can't hold an outside BBQ again due to weather, then Nell has agreed to cook a big pot of curry or chille-con and rice etc to feed us.

@Gaz - Stay away from the local beer this time mate ;-P When it says "Local" it means the locals are used to how strong it is !!!

two oh five - Hehehe, no chucking up purlease ! I have to stay behind and make sure everything is as we found it so we can wreck it again next year ;-P

Lewis - You'll love it - as will whoever you bring along - 185's do particularly well in Wales for some reason and most times outnumber 205's.

dale - Tell em Tim requested you attend lol. I hope you can make it.........

I think that covers it for now - Thanks for the warm welcome guys and keen interest peeps - I am going to finalise details with Nell towards the end of the week and I'll keep the thread upto date - If you have any questions, you can PM me or post up in here - Also, I will give a final address of the camp site when Nell & Myself have the date and other stuff sorted out.

Keep the comments coming peeps, it's wonderful to hear from everyone - even if you cant make it, at least you'll know what to expect for next years !

I dug out some pics of previous times we had......

......... The Experts - Plotting their own route !

Image

......... I know I have short legs, but honestly, this is not me - It's my son hiding in an archer lookout at one of the castles !

Image

.......... Not a 205 in sight - what a great windows wallpaper hehehe !

Image

......... Don't ask me to spell the name of this place, I can't even pronounce it - Really pretty there though !

Hmmmm, sounds like I will need to disguise my 205 as a 185 if I'm to be allowed in to Wales :D
