Mixed fortunes for Toyota at this years Goodwood FOS. The Irish rally guys brought a Corolla WRC, Celica ST205 and ST185. The ST205 ran off the rally stage and damaged the nose and front right suspension so ended up having to be towed out of the stage on the Saturday. On the Sunday the Group B Celica TA64 Twin Cam Turbo have a similar misfortune but damage seemed more severe.

in the final top 20 shootout on Sunday the Rod Millen lost the back end of his 800bhp 503E engined 4WD Pikes Peak Toyota Tacoma hillclimb car when he ran wide onto the grass. He kept his boot in but the tyres gripped up suddenly when they came back onto the track and he nerfed a hay bale which spun the car around and did the front end no good at all. It could have been worse though, he could have hit the flint wall and that would have been a lot less forgiving.

At least the Toyota TS030 Hybrid LMP1 Le Mans prototype survived the weekend in one piece which is more than can be said of many runners of the weekend. This year saw many more damaged cars than usual but fortunately all the drivers walked away unscathed. Toyota driver Setphane Sarrazin drove the TTE ST185 on Saturday and set a time which was second fastest at the time although young Belgian hotshoe and ex-JWRC driver Thierry Neuville subsequently demolished the times in his works Citroen DS3.

Toyota also had a big presence with the launch of the GT86 today and announcement of a TRD version in January 2013. They claim these will be mainly cosmetic tuning parts but I spotted TRD calipers and floating discs on the TRD version on the stand. There is also TRD uprated coilover suspension due to go on sale as well.

Once I have sorted out my 1,500 pics I'll post up a few. More later ....

Really looking forward to seeing the pictures Don, again another year where I couldn’t make the FOS.
I’ve already seen a piccy of the Castrol 185 but the first thing I noticed is that it was right hand drive with modified UK number plate and union jack on top of the car. I take it this was a very good replica? Dorris

The TRD GT86 was very nice, however, I much preferred the Gazoo GT86 concept version (supercharger + turbo) :D

Highlight for me was a passenger ride up the hill in an Audi R8 V10  = absolutely awesome :D

Just watched the repeat on Sky Sports did the car have a problem or was it running that rich (black smoke). Before he crashed i could not believe the acceleration the car had.

It is running that rich. That Tacome is insane.. I love the previous edition where he stalls the car at the start, then takes off and nearly smashes into the Range Rover in front of him at the finish. What a machine (and driver).
