Who invited Lord and Lady Mud water? Now I'll have to go out and buy a cap to doff

Does anyone actually know what a forelock is? Apparently it must be tugged in their presence but I'm not sure if that will get me arrested or just make me go cross eyed :lol:

Forelock is slang for a human hair style popular in the 1980s.
In the 19th century, it was a common salute where a person saluted another by "tugging the forelock" - oooerr missus :lol:

forelock tugging is showing too much respect towards someone who is in a high position ...
so really not necessary my dear sir :lol:

Hi Folks,

Doing abit of research it would seem that the Fairmile has gone a bit downhill and has some truly awful reviews on TripAdvisor in the last few months. Not wanting to disappoint people I have decided to move the Christmas Meet to:

The Queens Head
The Street
East Clandon
Surrey
GU4 7RY

This is only about 8 miles from the Fairmile and has good reviews and doesn't seem too bad prices.

I've booked a table for 13:30 on the 29th December.

I notice they add a 10% service charge on groups of 6 or more, seems a bit strange. You'd think they'd offer quantity discount.

Surcharges like that are really common, especially in London.

Way I look at it is that service is included, ie they will get the exact amount of money that the bill says, unless the service is poor in which case I'll have it removed.

I reckon that most places that do this probably end up worse off as, providing the service is good most people do 10% + rounding to the nearest easy number.
