Yes fellow GT4 lovers.

Meurz and myself went on a little wintertrip to Nordkapp (NO) in my ST185CS. It was a Challenge to raise money for charity.
We left The Netherlands on dec. 7 and returned on 19 dec. Start and Finish in Enschede (NL).
Total length of the trip: 7200[km], 4500 [mi]
There were 11 cars and 23 people in the challenge.

We took my car because Rene's is in parts at the moment. We had to modify it to make it take the cold temps and put on some extra lights and winter tires. Changed the oil to 5w30 and filled the wiperfluidcan, intercooler and engine with -35 proof fluids.
This is how the car looked ready for battle.

The challenge for us was to get to Nordkapp and see the Northern Light in the brief period we were in the polar circle.

We had a wonderfull time. 7 to 8 hours a day driving through cristmascard scenery. Some laughs and beers in the evening with the other teams, and an memorable adventure. We had some -30 temps in Finland and Norway, which even in boardweare and thermo underweare is very cold.

Of cource Meurz went on this trip armed with his camera to get some pics to remeber this great adventure and share with fellow enthusiasts.

This is the route:

We were lucky to succeed in achieving our primary goals.

Getting to Nordkapp (-27, with fierce wind and snow):

Special thanks to Meurz for the nice time and and laughs. (Side note: there was no radio for 4500 miles, because race car. We had to sing ourselves:-) ).

Excellent stuff, looks like you had a real blast and what a challenge.

Seeing the Northern lights is on my list of things to do - what a way to get there! :)

Thanks for posting your North Cape story Jef. I sympathise if you had no radio and had to listen to Rene sing  Good to see the spirit of GT-Four adventure is alive and well in NL :) We have been a bit quiet here in GB but so enjoyed the Swiss trip in 09 we are keen to do another EU trip if we can.

Thanks lads.

Now, Rene is actually a great singer. I never knew, untill he got the mic in an Oslo gaybar at karaoke night. He performed a mindblowing version of "YMCA". He was much better than my "I did it my way". :D

I haven't looked at the turbo yet. I think the seals went. I'll have a look in a few days.

Sounds like it was a lot of fun in a crazy Dutch way. I got as far north as Tromso a few years back on a Northern Lights trip

Remind me to steer clear of the Karaoke bars in LeMans next year. Leather chaps detector to level 12 for the trip too

You might be lucky and find a switch to more normal oil helps if the turbo has become a bit smokey

Everyone should put this on his/her list. It is awesome.

I don't know if it is the turbo for sure.
The bov spits oil when getting pressure above vacuum. When the turbo is not used, the car drives fine. We drove back all the way from Nordkapp with this issue.

I didn't use all my pictures in the video for a reason, Steve.

It sure was an epic trip/adventure, specially this time of the year with temps as low as -32 C and awesome scenery. From Monte Carlo Rally style passes near the fjords to knee deep snow in the Finnish woods.
Norway is deffo on the cards for a summer trip as well now btw, superb driving roads!
