First of a series of posts. This one focusses on Toyota interest.

Dave Newsham, successful independent BTCC driver has swapped his S2000 Vauxhall for the latest NGTC spec Toyota Avensis. He has only had one run in it at Donington so far. Unfortunately it was so cold he couldn't get any heat into the tyres and spun three times ending up in the kitty litter, fortunately without damage

Gerry and Lesley who are long time GT-Four enthusiasts (ST205 and ST165) and owners of Wheel Repair Centre are now Dave Newsham 2013 BTCC Toyota Avensis Sponsors :D

Flippin typical. You miss it for the first time in donkeys and Mysh and Bubbles turn up

No pictures of the nose? Or Jackie Stewart on his racing scooter?

It was good to catch up with them and they are still as enthusiastic as ever. Lots of GT-Four parts being refurbed and just need to be assembled. This years project(s)! We did spot Gonzo busy networking and also caught up with Jon. There were lots of race cars for sale, including several historic F1's. When I win the lottery.....

Outrageous aero on the front wing of the Merc

Nissan DeltaWing 300bhp 1600 Turbo Engine on display on the ARP Fasteners stand.

Special lightwight engine designed specifically for the DeltaWing by Ray Mallock Ltd. (RML) This is a very special engine as it could be built outside the normal restrictions to run in the technological innovative 'Garage 56' at Le Mans. RML also carried out extensive chassis work on the DeltaWing prior to the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours.

One of the rather surprising aspects about this engine is that RML mounted the electronics on the engine where they would be exposed to maximum heat and vibration. Perhaps this was due to the limited space available on the DeltaWing to mount the boxes. If you notice in the photos one of the exhaust headers is removable whereas the others are welded. Apparently this is because the only way to mount the engine in the Deltawing rear chassis frame is to remove this exhaust. The two depressions visible in the carbon cam cover are also to allow space for the chassis tubes!

Special lightweight crankshaft uses special ARP fasteners to secure the counterweights but they wouldn't tell me what they were :( Apparently there are other innovative features inside the engine which are not visible .

Sir Jackie Stewart Display

Perhaps I'm biased but the Matra Ford is one of the nicest looking Formula 1 cars of the late 60's, after that, they became more angular and then dominated by aerodynamics as seen above with the Merc front wing
