Nige, I'm not going to be at this sadly, as I've killed my turbo. I may still pop along for a bit if i keep it in as a day's holliday, but I won't be driving anything on track I do have a possible person lined up to take my place, but if anyone is interested if doing this trackday at short notice please drop me an offer on PM. Cheers Russell |

Sorry to hear that Russ...but you're not alone I have had to cancel my place at the (OC) Surrey RR day this Saturday. It also looks extremely unlikely that I'll be at Brands as well. Looks like I have the tell-tale signs (aluminium filings in the oil in the air intake) of ringland failure |

Russell you and Nigel make a pair then, he's got metal shards in his turbo intake! I have a freshly rebuilt Owens CT26 hybrid if you need one |

Well I'm pleased to say that my trusty 205 survived Brands Hatch ...which is more than can be said for my trailer...The pivot bolt for the tilt action of the bed of the trailer sheered off Moved the whole bed of the trailer across by about 6 inches Anyway, cut a long story short...a HUGE thanks to Russ and is mate Matt who between the 3 of us, an L200, a trolley jack and a ratchet strap managed to pull it all back in shape and slot it back together. I now have a tilt bed trailer with no tilt ...which proved extremely troublesome when trying to load the car at the end of the day. AGAIN a HUGE thanks to Russ, Matt and the MSA sprint gang who managed, with some ingenuity, to rig up a fix using 2 massive blocks of wood, a trolley jack and 2 wheels. We managed to get sufficient tilt on the whole trailer to be able to load the car. Luckily for me I have 2 thundering great big ramps at home (6' plant trailer ramps) so was able to unload with some ease when I got in tonight. |

Glad to hear your ST205 survived its track excursion. Will it be a simple job of replacing the pins on the tilt bed to fix the trailer or is it more complicated? |

Yes, it would normally be just a simple task of replacing the pins but I have this feeling that getting the old ones out may prove to be a right PITA. Going to try and remove whats left with a drift bar and a BFH to start with but it looks well rusted in there. |

Sounds like the liberal application of heat using a gas-axe followed by BFH will be the way forward |

yes everything intact ...was overtaking an MX-5 coming up to Surtees... it indicated too let me through but it didn't slow down was carrying far too much speed into the first part of surtees, 4-wheel drift (read nearly lost it) and decided to cut the corner on the grass as opposed to spinning out infront of the MX-5 I'd just passed. Funny but that was the only bit of mud and grass on the car after the excursion...Russ wouldn't let me take it off until he had taken a pic Quote: Thanks for taking me out for a spin Nigel, My pleasure...glad you enjoyed it. Quote: I was pleased to read that you had made it home safely.
I was going to txt you once I was home but I realised I didn't have your number. Please convey my thanks to all the guys...teas/coffees on me next time |

Some of those pics actually show how well balanced my car is from a handling perspective |

Yes, your car looks very good through the corners with minimal roll. I assume you were pushing on and not driving in granny mode? Tempted to get my TEIN suspension fitted for some track days this summer. Mike must be keen as well! |

I believe that it is a combination of suspension mods working together.
Springs levels/height equal all round 2.5 degrees camber at the front and standard camber at the rear (0.5?). Parrellel toe C-ONE anti-roll bars front and rear Cusco underbody ladder (H) brace C-ONE 3-point front strut brace Standard rear strut brace + 17" Ultralite Battle wheels with 235/40/17 Toyo R888s (GG compound) ...and I wasn't hanging around was I Russ |
