Missed the dates in the title, using TapaTalk at the time, and as Don posted, what is the GT4X.
Also, if you download a dB meter to your phone, it is normally within 3dB ish at 1/2 meter from the exhaust as it is normally checked.
May give you a clue as to how loud it is?
I also have a couple of 3" bungs if it fits that you could use?
It will restrict power but get you on the track:)
Sorry - GT4X is Ex Fensport/Adrian Smith car (Blue, Gen7/4WD/3SGTE by JEMS)
Adrian suggested it was producing about 105dB. Bungs are not an option - too much risk of engine damage from increased back pressure. Initial idea was to run a 'Decibel Devil' (
www.decibeldevil.co.uk) as the 5" model should fit into the (oversize) tailpipe and might give 2-3dB reduction without affecting back pressure (minimal effect anyway).
That might well not be enough with a lot of track days having a 100dB or less limit, so in the long term I expect to add an additional silencer across the back of the rear valance of the car this additional silencer and associated pipe will be made of the same diameter pipe as the existing system (90mm). I'm in contact with BTB regarding this work.
Because sorting out the new silencer is unlikely to be done in the next 3 weeks or so, in the meantime I'm going to get hold of a decent noise level meter from a friend who works in motorsport to get an idea of how big the problem is, and because Keevil and Hullavington are both pretty close I'll be taking both cars there so we can (a) find out what their meter says and (b) if we get lucky with the decibel devil, maybe even get to take the GT4X out on circuit.
Bit of a half-baked plan I know but hey...
