with the R-design pack (similar to m-sport pack) I think it is a very attractive and distinctive car...

Hmmm, rather unremarkable but at least its not been hit with the fugly stick! I quite like the Evoque but it seems overpriced in comparison to others in the class. Not sure about the mechanical side of things. My Patrol may be a bit of a truck but it ticked the robust mechanical box, space/load carrying and value for money. Landcruiser was too expensive and the drivetrain less robust although the engine was better. Everything's a compromise so it all boils down to personal priorities at the end of tbe day.

Not much boot space but you'll never have another parking problem

The snow probably wouldn't cause too much drama either. :D

I have pretty much decided to go for the 120D M-Sport but the rear wheel drive version and then get a set of winter tyres for the GT4.

Part of the decision based on we already have an i30 which is fairly decently sized, enough room for 2 adults comfortably in the back and a decent boot, plus if this is too small we have only got it for another 2 years so can swap for something bigger if needed then.

I am a bit torn on the various options it only come in 6 colours and two I have ruled out already black and silver. The remaining colours are:

I think the white looks good and curiously its the only 'free' colour but from Claire white car it needs cleaning far too often so I think it best to avoid. The grey would be the most practical but I've got a grey one at the moment and wouldn't mind a change.

That leaves the orange and the blue, whilst I think the orange looks great its a bit garish really so that leaves the blue which I really like so I think that will be the choice. :D

So its ordered. Managed to negotiate a smidge over 11% discount as well which basically covered the cost of the options so fairly happy with that.

That's pretty good going for discount on a new 1-series! Is it end of the quarter?

The target prices I looked up indicated around £800 off list!

End of year - works out at basically £3400 off. Pretty chuffed with that really. Although I am sure there is still plenty of profit in there for them.

Just have to wait for it to arrive now. Should be mid-February.

If you're buying new, you'll often find that buying for business will open up extra discounts. Also worth finding a similar spec car from another manufacturer a bit cheaper you can be 'interested in' to give a bit more bargaining power.

11% is still quite a good discount though unless you're 'fleet buying'.
