Hi guys I am looking for a baby seat to fit in my celica gtfour st205. This will be my first child and I have no idea what I'm looking for apart from it needs to be a rear facing seat for the fist year. I figured I should post here for recommendations on a good baby seat that will fit well in the celica as someone here must have done it before. Thanks :)

I don't know the laws in your country, but here we have to use the rear facing that tends to only fit with a base. The 205 rear seats are pretty much the same as the 185 seats. I am not sure if the buckets are as deep. For my seats I had to come up with something to fit the bottom of the seats so that the baby seat is easier to level and lock down. If the 205 rear seat belt is anything like the 185 belt, it is awful for the newer car seats. The older forward facing ones fit better due to locking position. I had considered installing a latch system from a new vehicle but they tend to be built into the seats structure. I included a link that lists a retro fit system that will allow you to use the newer car seat latch system in your 205. I purchased one that is like a seat belt that comes around the back of the seat and latches to the baby seat. Read the answer in the link:

Also note, The new baby seats are quite large and as your baby grows it is harder for them to have room. You will have to mount behind the passenger seat, and you will have to also possibly have the passenger seat further up.

Thanks for the useful information mate I think I will try to get a seat that installs with a seatbelt rather than retrofit latches. Cheers

I'm sure our travel system seat strapped in fine. It was the next stage fixed seat that can cause problems with the narrow bucket seats, but we got a maxi cosy one that is narrow and fits fine.

From birth we got something like this...

And later...

No problem. Glad the clutch isn't totally gone yet.

My new clutch is sweet now that it's worn-in, and the front suspension is quiet, but now i've got over-boost issues. This is turning into an expensive year!

I hear you!
Still, boost issue easily fixed, thankfully.
Re. Your suspension noise, have you checked all the subframe and arb mount bolt torques? The crush tube one can cause probs too. Especially after bedding in.

I haven't actually checked everything like that yet. When I fit my new drop links and arb bushes I'm going to make sure everything is tightened right up. I need to get on with it before the weather takes a turn for the worse though. I have uprated crush tubes which I have reused and I was rough getting the banana arm out and back in as I couldn't get them out which has got me worried. Oh the joys

Turns out the larger car seat for my kid fits in the car easier than the ones that use the base.
