Hi,

I've been away from the forum for a while, so I thought I'd check in.

Compared to last year, when the car was laid up for a bit, I've been getting a bit of fun out o' her in recent months. I'm hoping to do some Hillclimbs next year, so I've been getting some track time to get in the mood, and give the car a shake-down after all the faffing.

Here's a small collection of photo's to sum it all up. Needless to say I've really enjoyed getting the use of her again. I just need to stump up for some 'racing' gear to comply with MSA rules and things can get a bit more 'serious'.

Hope you're all getting some summer fun in your Fours!

Cheers,

Dave.

Forrestburn Speed Hill Climb. Didn't know this existed. Looks like a layout that would suit the Four :D

The track is short n sweet, but both times I was there i had plenty runs at it.

Next I'll be checking out Kames sprint circuit in Ayrshire, having already seen Doune and Bo'ness.

Any suggestions or advice on buying race wear is welcome! I'm looking forward to some timed runs at a proper event. Most likely in the 2016 season.

Sounds good!

Regarding race wear it's worth having a read of the MSA Blue Book as this describes what is required for the different type of MSA regulated events: https://www.msauk.org/assets/153191comm ... afetyk.pdf
See Page 164 for overalls.

It's worth noting that some off the peg overalls don't have pockets which seems mad to me as you tend to spend quite a lot of time in them in the paddock working on the car, waiting for your race to come up or heading for the burger van! Very useful to have somewhere to put stuff. Some of this safety wear can seem quite expensive but when you think that it's really a one-off expense then it's not so bad and what price can you put on personal safety? I would avoid buying from the likes of fleabay and go to someone like JJC Race and Rally, Demon Tweeks, GPR Racewear or similar outlets.
