Audi S8 4.2 V8 circa 360bhp in a MK1 MR2! Oh and located in Bournemouth if any locals share my strange desire.

Whilst this is not subtle I can't help thinking it would be a great way to enter the firey doors of hell backwards in.

If I didn't have my own project to finish I'd be tempted to have a closer look at this. Might be a bit of a handful in the wet but nothing that couldn't be tackled at least in part with smart mapping and strategy using the latest generations of ECU.
