With all due respect to this forum, does anyone know where the GT4 Owners Club web site went to? Been a member for over 10 years, and had posted an awful lot of stuff there which I was trying to access...

Its been hacked and held to ransom
Apparently the back ups are insufficient to re-instate
I suggested via facebook group that they create a new forum and look to import the old stuff as and when they figure it out but havnet had any response

Of course this happens right after I become a member. I was wanting to go through all the old posts.

That's a real shame, I had over 1500 posts invested in that site, with numerous photos. Again, with respect to this forum, it was a fantastic resource helping me out with numerous fixes over the years. Indeed, I may have scrapped my car a while back without the advice and encouragement of it's members. I hate computer hackers, I hope the wheels fall off whatever car they drive, though it's probably a few years to go before they're old enough to drive LOL

With all due respect to this forum, it's knowledge is still here and a much more pleasant place too.

Happy to accept that, but I had a few 'open' threads that I wanted to update - just a bit irritating at having lost a whole web site, darn careless LOL

Nice one Dave :)
Latest from OC is they are getting a new server to host with maintenance included.
I love all the 4 sites, (including EC). Hope we can all be buddies together now that some 'management' has changed.

What has happened to the GT4 scene in general?
I know why the OC went quiet and why the other sites/clubs split off. But surely there are still loads of GT4 owners around that probaby need even more help as these cars age? Where is everyone?
I don't really care where everyone lurks, I'm just a bit gutted it's so quiet now.

They are all on Facebook asking the same questions as somebody else did yesterday!

IMHO a forum is the best place to look for info as you can search but most seem to. S learning the hard expensive way now ;-)

As someone who doesn't partake in 'social media', (I consider myself a grown up and have no need to share photos of my dinner), I too believe in the 'forum' format! The biggest loss of the GT4OC is the decades of posts that were searchable to help current owners sort out issues, rather than have to invent the wheel again all the time...

I don't understand why people go on facebook to share techibal information as the interface is dire. I go on there to see funny pictures and share them with friends. It's great for entertainment, but that's about where it ends.
That said, I can see why so many people switched from the OC to facebook for the social side of the club, and once established over there the forum fell into disuse.
Thankfully there is still a lot of past knowledge in searchable form on here and the EC, and the celica club as well to include all celicas. The latter club still having a good social side to the club.

Out of interest, which management have departed from the OC ?

There have been a raft of resignations over the last few years! I didn't really pay much attention as my interest was reading the informative posts, not the bickering :)
I was under the impression it had all settled down again over the last year, albeit with a reduced membership and input but it was plodding along nicely. The free membership boosted numbers up to 800+ I believe but posts were few and far between, most people just using the info already on there.
This server attack, shutdown, attempted restore failed and now the replacement is taking so long I fear a reduced membership could occur again
Never mind, here is great.
It is sad to say there was a raft of information on the GT4OC site and I hope it can be resurrected soon. Steve said he would let me know when it restarts, I suppose I have been a pest on there for over 14 years so I like to keep in touch. There are 2 or 3 of us who post on EC too?????????
I too am a non facebooker, I also do not see the point.
Lets hope we all get to live well together again, soon :)
