Not a fan of longlife myself...

The off the shelf Mongoose system that Fensport sell is very good value for money as it includes a large diameter flexi pipe which very very few aftermarket exhausts come with.

I believe its also a replica of the HKS Hypermuffler.

Blitz Nur Spec R is still my favourite ST205 exhaust.

I hear the Motoria exhausts the XS Power sell are very good and again a replica of the Nur Spec R if im not mistaken.

What age is you're car?

If its a pre Aug/Sept 95 Import then you can legally run it without a cat.

Mine is a Nov 94 with no cat and it went though the MOT fine well below the emissions limit :)

You can run a 3inch exhaust on any car. It doesnt matter whether you have a cat there or not.

Im pretty sure if you leave the cat in you wont get much in the way of boost creep.

My first ST205 was running stock Cat and a Blitz Nur Spec R and i never hit fuel cut.

I think the Nur Spec R pipework is 2.75" but i may be wrong.

you wont get creep if you leave the stock cat in.

yep indeed the Nur spec R is a 2.75" system, slightly smaller than my 3" mid section is... still nur spec is the best sounding system!... well one of the meanest i think. :D

hi,thanks for the replies
im going to get an sport cat as mines had it,im just paranoid about boost creep after reading about it on here lol,
should i get the fabricator to leave both inlet and outlet of the sportcat std or get them to go 3inch?,
also whatever exhausts they are they need to have an mature sound not the sort of noise where you can hear me 5 miles away ! lol.

cheers :)

Well im running either the HKS Hypermuffler or the Mongoose system (I cant tell which it is as i cant find a company logo anywhere!).

Im also running a XS Power downpipe Decat (Auzzie Downpipe Replica).

Sounds almost like a standard car at idle but sounds meaty when you pull away.

Nice powerful sound when gunning it but thankfully nice and sensible on the motorway.

The Blitz Nur Spec R sounds the best but my biggest gripe with it was the awful din it made at 70mph on the motorway.

I never saw any boost creep with my old cars Blitz Nur Spec R and Auzzie Downpipe Decat, and i've never experienced boost creep with my new cars system either.

Well.... until i put my boost controller on and forgot to disable the vsv

i run a

3" Aussie downpipe
3" Custom made mid pip
Blitz Nur Spec-R exhaust

and i do get creep on cold days in the winter... none in the summer, well when i say none i mean i get about 0.4 bar creep between 6k and 7k revs flat out throttle.

if you are getting a exhaust made im not sure if you meant that you would go for a 3inch system them cut it into a 2.5 inch cat?

if so then that would defeat the point of having a 3" as it would speed up then instantly strangle then back to go.

go 3" all the way through.

but for exhausts i love the way mine sounds... i would describe it as though it sounds like the world is coming to an end at flat out throttle. :D haha

but sensible with a nice noise i would go mongoose, cheap as chips and goes all the way to the cat, where as my blitz is 'apparently' cat back but actually goes to the mid sections and costs a small fortune.. but then it is stunning looking and sounds amazing too... but too loud for alot of people.

my setup as of the above produces a static noise of 103.8db at 4500rpm :O

i've got a full 3" japspeed exhaust + 3" decat downpipe from japspeed, got creep sometimes so i replaced the gasket between downpipe and exhaust with a 2.5" bore stainless gasket 1mm thickness, no problems now, free flowing enough and great sound.
