Hello and good evening together,

i have a question and would like to ask for your opinion....

I was after the Tilton full carbon twin plate clutch....

They ran out of stock... they could reproduce them on a custom basis.... but that would cost 4150$ (that is around 1000$ more because they have to stop the production and remake a single unit)

Well the 2nd point is they need 12 weeks to produce that clutch/flywheel assembly.

That is not so good because i only got 4 weeks left until the car has to be finished for a tuningshow...

Then i looked around. ATS makes CC clutches as well:

http://www.a-t-s-usa.com/ats-products/c ... rbon.shtml

They are not full carbon ones as the floating discs are only carbon coated.
But they seem to be good as well. And only cost the half of the tilton... even less.

So here is my question:

What do you know about the ATS Carbon clutches. Would you wait 12 weeks for the tilton... would you go for the ATS and save money?

cheers Joerg

Joerg - the Tilton unit is meant to be very good from what I hear, but I don't know anyone who actually runs one :(

I'm sure the clutch would be good, but I would be nervous about spending that much money without trying to verify that it does the job...seems like there are very few owners who have ever run one of the units?

I think Ian Smith fitted an ATS clutch from the USA some time back but had some problem with it so he sent it back?

Its a lot of money for the Tilton but I don't want to fit a cerametallic clutch so am looking at the carbon options myself. I think RPS do a carbon clutch as do Sachs Race Engineering (as fitted to the TTE cars)

hmm... as they run out of tilton flywheel and it would cost 1000$ on top for custom making them. This is getting to expensive for me! I wouldlove to get this clutch. But i feel so deep in love with that clutch assembly, that i totally blanked out the price...That is really expensive! Worth but expensive! 4150$+

Ian Ashton has onein his GT Four and there are several MR2 who have fitted them. Needs a fair bit of modification to the gearbox to fit them.

So RPS would be a solution. But i heard that there should have been several problems.

ATS Clutches are nice as well and they costs only half of what the Tilton would be.

So what is your opinion???

Might be worth checking to see if OS Giken make a carbon clutch, either twin or triple plate - they're damn good clutches and a lot of high power Jap tuners use them :?:

Cheers,
Mark
