Just bouncing an idea about, but I hear a whine sounding like it has a straight cut box when I'm using slight throttle, but goes when I use more or come off the throttle. I'm hoping that its the diff, not the gearbox on its way

If it is the box, would a 205 box bolt straight on, and is it a stronger one than the 185 one ?

Had a similar issue turned out to be rear droplink dislocated slightly and caused rubbing on wheel, coilover had twisted loose from a B road thrashing. Sounded like an alternator whine or very quiet diff whine. Fixed with a socket set, coilover spanner and a rubber hammer.

Could be unrelated, but thought I'd float the idea in case you have trouble diagnosing it. Best to get it up in the air and have a poke round. "05 box can fit I think, maybe an adaptor needed.

The ST205 box should fit and is generally considered to be a 'stronger' box. The only issue I am aware of is the speedo drive - some are electronic and some mechanical, this will need swapping from your old box.
