Milner didn't use an Xtrac on his Celica if that's what you mean? He used the MakTrak rallycross transmission so if you have a spare £23k+ stashed down the back of your sofa this is the one you want

Maktrak appear to make 2 sequential gearboxes that would be suitable for the GT4 - the 'full monty' one as fitted to the Milner car , but they also seem to make an 'economy' model .

The cheap one (at about £13,000 including the vat) appears to compare favourably (price wise) with the PPG dog box that is available (probably about the same if you factor in an Ikeya shifter). Anyone have any experience of the 'economy' version?

The MakTrak, Xtrax, PPG etc sequential gearbox options have been discussed at great length on Alltrac.net and also in a couple of threads here - I have them bookmarked on my desktop machine, so I'll post the links tomorrow. It makes for some interesting reading, but the bottom line as Don mentioned is that you still need the better part of £25K to implement a seq. box on the GT-Four.

I thought that figure of £25K was pretty high so gave John McIntosh a call. Bottom line is slightly less than that - figure on a minimum of £13K, but John recommended upgrading the front diff as well (an extra £2000 ish). Call it £16K fitted including the VAT.

If you want to spend £25K it's pretty easy, just add the paddle shift (£3K) and the rear diff (£4K)and Maktrak's own drive shafts and you're pretty much there, I didn't even dare ask about magnesium castings...

No problem Steve, here's the link, right click and "save as" to download it. I'm uploading it to my own server because the sharing service I downloaded it from earlier was restriced to a very slow speed. This server should be faster. There are a couple of other good articles in this issue - a very brief one on twin charging and a write up on a nice V8 S14 :)

I would love to be able to afford a MakTrak transmission for my track toy!

Same here, although what a paddle shifted sequential would be like on public roads I have no idea...

Seems the PDF link no longer works, does anyone have them saved and could share?
