hi hope some one can give me a bit of advice have got a set of piper cams in my head the heads been rebuilt with 1mm oversize inlet and exhaust valves ,fully ported,polished ,engle valve springs but now i need to shim the valves but a bit unsure what clearance to give std valve clearance is, inl 0.15/0.25mm and exh 0.28/0.38 mm but only info i can find on piper website is 0.20/0.25mm but doesnt specify if thats for for both cams between .20/.25 or inlet .20 exh .25 if any 1 has these fitted any help appreciated this http://www.pipercams.co.uk/pipercams/ww ... when i build my head i used the toyota clearance and i think they must be used

The clearance remains the same it's the duration that is different, that is, the higher lift cams have the effect that the valves are open for a longer duration.

If your running Toyota valves, why would you want to run different to the Toyota clearances?

hi its running ferrera 1mm oversize valves i was setting up all clearances to toyota spec then happened to notice pipers spec so eas curious if anyone else fitted piper cams and what clearance did they do

Maybe the best people to ask would be Ferrea?

I guess only Ferrea would probably know how much their valve stems grow by as they warm up? Unless someone else has measured it?

i think ferrea uses the oem clearance but if you ask i'am glad to let me know what they said :)
