Its not unknown for the knock sensor to fail. Replacement is rather awkward as its on the back of the block. A trained double jointed ferret would be very useful

Best to test by replacing with another sensor you know is working as there's no easy way of testing.

The sensor may have simply picked up a frequency that is the same as the knock frequency. This can happen on heavily modded cars where all sorts of new knocks, rattles and squeeks can be heard.

Mixer,
A little concerning as I understand you have just built up your engine and running on old map.

Code 52 is knock sensor failure or dodgy wiring to knock sensor. (not that it has detected knock)

I can think of 2 scenarios.
1) Knock sensor damaged during refit
2) The car is knocking so much it has killed the sensor.

Error codes are covered on our website . . .

http://www.gt4dc.co.uk/info/howto/ecu/e ... _codes.htm
Code 52 also has a link to how to replace the knock sensor.
