hi guys
just wonderin if you know how ta wire the auto gauge seven colour boost gauge.
i wired it up and got 12v to it but no lights. cant really make sense of the wirin diagram its very vague. il try and post it up if i can get photo bucket working.

I've just wired in 3 gauges: Oil Temperature; Oil Pressure and Water Temperature.
I have 2 other gauges to fit: Boost and AFR.

I have the wiring diagrams that came with the gauges so if they are of any use just shout.
Infact, I may try and create a sticky and post them up here.

Basically, with all the gauges, you have 4 wires coming out the back:
Red - power
Black - earth
Green - sensor
Orange - illumination

One way of doing it would be to splice into the radio loom.
However, there's far too much spagehetti for my liking, so I tapped into my Greddy Turbo Timer harness for power and illumination.
The Greddy Turbo Timer harness has 3 wires: Red, Blue and Green.
I spliced in and used the Blue wire as a power feed and the Green wire for illumination.
Not ideal for colour coding but it all works.

The only difference for the boost gauge is that it has a tube that comes out the back of it which goes to, via a T-piece, the boost controller solenoid. The other side of the T-piece has a tube that goes to the back of the boost controller.

hi mate
my gauge only got three wires including an earth wire.
iv taken wires from the clock loom and am gettin twelve volts across the two wires on boost gauge but not getting any illumination. aso tried takin from cig lighter which is just fed by two wires and stil no luck

Yes you're right...just gone out to the garage and checked.
Does'nt have the green sensor wire because you have the tube that attaches to the back instead.
Red (Power), Black (Earth) and Orange (Illumination).



This would have a power source and an earth.

OK.
Make sure that your Black wire from the gauge is earthed really well.
I used a point behind the center console unit, behind the heater controls to the right hand side - you'll see a metal plate welded to what looks like a reinforcing tube. It has two thread screws coming out of it. I soldered a ring crimp connector to the black wire and used this point with a stainless steel washer and 10mm nut.
Next find a power source (ACC) from either the clock or the cigarette lighter.
First temporarily connect it up to the Orange wire from the gauge.
Switch the ignition on and the gauge should light up.
If not, I suspect that the bulb/led is blown in the gauge.

cool il try that mate. gauge is brand new though so if its wrecked itl be a real pain. lety ya know how i get on

hi mate
i have that diagram aswel but my gauge is the seven colour one with a red wire yellow and black wire itl be there with your instructions. they very vague and dont show what the yellow wire is linked with. cant figure it out

The wiring diagram you posted a link to:

The red wire would be a power feed, the black wire an earth and the yellow wire for illumination.
The confusing part is the yellow wire and specifically that funny looking screwed head/dial part.
What I can ascertain is that...
That funny looking screwed head/dail part must be a 7-position switch.
If there are seven different colours that the gauge can be lit up then it must pass through a switch to be able to select each colour individually.

ya its not the best diagram to say the least. the gauge itself has a push in button which i take it operates switching between the seven colours. begining to think the seven colour thing wasnt worth it

It looks to me that the yellow wire should be connected via the push switch to a 12V power source.
If the gauge works (i.e. needle moves) then try taking the yellow wire direct to the same power source as the red wire. That should switch on the lights.

If that works then you should be able to connect the yellow wire to that power source via the switch to get your switchable colours
