This was under my new (Old 1991 ST185) car after I had parked up at work, Security said he heard it fall on the floor.

Looks like metal fatigue/rust got to it :(

Cannot see where it is from without getting the car jacked up.

Maybe it's not as solid as you thought. Looks almost like a spring seat part. I can't think of anything that size & shape off the cuff.

Just don't park it in a puddle or you'll come back to a pile of brown sludge

Is it the big dish shaped washer that holds the back of the rear subframe on - without the inner part?

Is it going to fall off?

Bugger :(

I did have a quick look, but did not notice and difference between left and right?

If it is that bit then the bolt will still be holding the sub-frame in place but its certainly not ideal.

See if you can get a good look with a torch and camera.

I didn't know you had bought something else? Did I miss a post?

Where exactly did you find it under the car?

posssibly #4 from here but I'm far from convinced
http://www.midatlantictoyotaparts.com/p ... n-mounting

The only other possibility I can come up with is the washer from the bolt that holds the rear wheel rear arm to the subframe but unless it's a miniature pen that's too big

For future reference all items should be size referenced with an NGK sparkplug, a tradition initiated by Kris

Actually I am really quite convinced now after I remember the front mounting is a plate with almost the exact same dish built in - as seen making a cameo appearance in this shot

It is always possible it's a random bit of scrap he found somewhere and he's having you on ;)

Reminds me of the time I had an upset customer on the phone, one of our electric vehicles had made a loud bang and a cloud of smoke came from underneath. I cut short my holiday and rushed over there to find - a burst tyre and a dusty track.

I had the same thing happen with my ST205 a while back. Found the corroded metal part on the driveway under my ST205. Turned out to be one of the subframe mounts which had corroded and finally given up the ghost and fell off!
