185 gearboxes have a lever to allow selection of open (non viscous) centre diff and also FWD only modes.

http://www.celicatech.com/imagearchive/ ... /MT/MT.htm page MT4.

I'm thinking of trying the open diff mode for competition to allow better handbraking but I'm concerned about the warning not to use this mode for normal driving. Does anyone with good knowlegde of these gearbox internals see any reason why the gearbox would be weakened / damaged running in this mode ?

Hi,

this is only to use for a break-test!
i'am not a gearbox specialist but i would seriously hear on toyota's warning

competition + a gearbox out of his normal condition = not a good idea
