A friend of mine, another ex OCer, called today worried that his car had used 1/2 litre of oil in 5500miles. I told him it was all OK and that it is not excessive at all!

It did get me to wondering what other peoples engines get through though so I thought I'd ask you guys how much you use?

It's worth mentioning the state of tune and whether it is a track car or a road car as I expect track cars to consume the most!

I'll kick off

Tune: Mild 300hpish
Use: Road
Make of oil: Sylkolene Pro S
Oil consumed: a good 1/2L 6000m approx

Untill I broke it and then it used a bit more

Hi,

1/5l oil in 5500miles is very good

i don't know it exact but my engine needs 0,1l per 1000km (road & race)

note, every toyota engine needs oil and run every time

greetz

For a stock engine I would say that was acceptable, (maybe a little high).

For a shiny rebuilt engine with aftermarket parts then I'd say the oil consumption is low :D

My bodged engine (scored bores given light hone, with broken piston replaced with secondhand piston & rings) went from max to min on dipstick (1L ?) in about 1K - 1500 miles on the swiss trip. Probably similar oil consumption on the 205 with rogue motorsport rebuilt standard spec engine.

My original 185 engine went from max to min per tank of fuel (200 miles) with no leaks & good compression readings.
