Hey

As a few of you know I'v been looking at ways to coat my spangly manifold for heat resistance from engine bay...especially as how close it gets to the bonnet.

So i had a company coat it recently that came highly regarded to me...All i can say is very professional company...whether the claims are justified is yet to be seen. But if there anything like their staff and nuclear army base they operate from im sure it will be excellent.

Heres the results and contact/web details

Looks very nice, this is to stop heat escaping from the manifold I trust?

Not trying to hijack, but would such a coating be effective on a downpipe as well? I have a (2nd hand - 1500 kms used) HPC coated Aussie sitting on my desk at the moment.. I was planning on heat wrapping it, but how about such an extra coat? Or coat + wrap? Or nothing at all?

Looks very nice though that mani.. The layout itself is sexy.. ext. wastegate right beneath the vent..

it's already coated dude with hpc.

i wouldn't wrap a hpc aussie, it will eventually cause it to crack.

i'd leave it as is, if wasn't hpc coated then you could wrap it or get it coated as above.

high performance coating + wrapping = bad

or so i'm led to beleive anyway

Mainly yes. But it has been proven that gas flows more efficiently at higher temperatures in the manifold as i understand it. Therefore reulting in performance gains from keeping the heat in the exhaust system

if you can keep the gases hotter they will flow faster throughout the system thus making it more efficient.

can't remember the soddin technical term for it....arghhh....lol, dont ya just hate that....lol

Ah true, hense my lagging of my DP. Might well look into this for my exhaust manifold, once it's been tweaked :)

very sceptical about coatings, have found none to date that will take the punishment of high temps on turbo manifold, seem's that sheilding to reduce passing air seem to help improve temps.

i could be wrong, but under heavy use, be interesting how much coating remains, wrapping will help, but depends on setup.

Would be more worried about smoothing ta welds out on each port entry, as this will cause for reduced flow .

Matt how you getting on with the build..hope its going smooth..
