when i was putting the engine back in yesterday i thought what a waste of time it was carting that bloody aircon pump round for zero benefit. so i went to my very local and very friendly halfords an purchased a 5 rib belt which is about an inch or so shorter (measured by eye) then took the pump off but leaving the standard flat face adjuster pulley and bracket in situ,the belt then went on starting at the alternator then stretching it slightly around the crank pulley,at this point the belt felt tight enough but as luck would have it the adjuster pulley will then wind back on to the back side of the new belt thus putting more tension on it. no more aircon!

£4 belt from halfords,unfortunately i dont know what car its off so i bet you'd like the part number wouldnt you?

Give the 5PK1xxx reference on the belt is enough for every body to find one.

Sunny, be sure i am a toyota OEM parts fan, but on a simple belt i am not happy to pay over 20€.


alternator & Airco is 5PK1100
alternator only is 5PK1035
alternator only oversized pulley is 5PK1045

in France (and probably everywhere in the world) you can find them from contitech or Bilstein or Dayco for max 15€ shipped (over 35€ from toyota for alternator thing).

The one in picture is probably a 5PK1020, but to help anyone who want to do the same the only ref Mr Burt have to give is the 5PK xxxx written on it.

Who cares about 20 euro on a XX k project? It's not like you need to replace it every 3 weeks?

or u can use st162/182 belt tensioner...... with right belt... from scrap yard...

btw bozo.. i ordered mine st205 belt from 1sttoyota parts for some thin like 20$ - the contitech they wanted to charge me localy for over 100$

i dont mind 20$ for oem belt tought
i also got the camry 98+ oil pump from them for something like 112$ and some other stuff...

1sttoyotaparts is the way to go... afaik..

If this post exist it's because £44 (£48 for the kit from fensport - the £4 belt bought at Halfords) is a no way and we could do cheaper, so why not going really cheap ?

My belt is a 5PK1010, Toyota part number 99365-21010. It was listed for a ST185H 3SGTE w/o AC, will it fit? I heard I needed another pulley, but the pulley from the dealer was 160$CAN!!

jeah i know interesting the 185 version is exactly 1/2 the price od st 205 version (one less tooth) ...... LOOL

but still expensive that oem st205 with shipping ˛custioms for me LOL

Sorry for dragging up an old thread but has anyone tried fitting this shorter belt to an ST205? (As it looks like an ST185 engine in the pic)

I ask as im 99% certain my AC pump is rattling and whining, so im looking at removing it.

I was looking at the fensport ac removal kits but if i can simply fit this Halfords HB975f belt i can at least confirm that it is 100% my AC pump and then perhaps even do away with it and not bother getting the fensport kit.

Well i've had an interesting day so i thought id share my findings.

Turns out the HB975f doesnt fit the ST205.

The crank pulley is marginally bigger which means its impossible to get the HB975f on as its just too small.

GSF Car parts sell a 5PK1013 for £11+VAT. This does the trick!

All you need to do is place some 4mm washers (3 needed in total) behind the alternator mount to space is out a little so that the tensioner pulley can push against the belt enough.

Leave the big bolt out of the top of the alternator and push it in as far as it will go - this gives you enough slack to get the belt on. Then pull the alternator forwards to get the bolt in.
