basically I would like to know if it's safe to do on my CS.
I have been concerned about water channeling and the rusting of parts (like the turbo!) and any leccy bits.

What are your thoughts guys?

Thanks

Steve

Yes it's safe!

However, I too am worried about the effects of water ingress
I feel that the complete removal is one of the contributing factors in those "just dredged up from the swamp" engine bays. For this reason I have removed my insulation BUT left the little plastic cover in place on the standard, but now loose, clips

I can see masses of heat coming through the vent so I know there's plenty of flow but water is still channeled away from the engine
I still remove this plate for max cooling on track days though :!:

Thanks Steve...useful to know that there is a plastic tray I can keep on the car to help channel water.

I still have it on because my car is always parked outside. I however would get rid of it when I could park Carlos dry.

I got rid of mine because there was a nasty tear in the middle of it.

Don't really miss it tbh. I don't see that the flow of rainwater is any worse than it would be through the venturi tunnels at the sides (closer to fuseboxes etc) and down the bonnet shuts.

My engine bay is normally filthy simply because I am too lazy to wash it, not because of the muck coming through the vent.

wear some gloves and long sleeves though, the stuff can be pretty darn itchy if it tears
